Kyle Manzardo’s Homer Brings Guardians All the Way Back for 4-3 Win Over Twins

A Wild Ride at the Metrodome

The Cleveland Guardians staged a thrilling comeback on Wednesday night, rallying from a 3-0 deficit to defeat the Minnesota Twins 4-3 in 10 innings at Target Field. Kyle Manzardo's solo home run in the top of the 10th inning proved to be the game-winner.

The Twins jumped out to an early lead against Guardians starter Cal Quantrill, scoring three runs in the first inning on a single by Gilberto Celestino and a two-run homer by Carlos Correa. Quantrill settled down after that, allowing just one more hit over the next four innings.

Guardians' Comeback

The Guardians began their comeback in the fifth inning when Jose Ramirez singled home Amed Rosario. They tied the game in the seventh inning on a two-run single by Owen Miller.

The game remained tied until the 10th inning when Manzardo came to the plate with one out. He took a 1-1 pitch from Twins reliever Jorge Lopez and sent it over the wall in left field for his first home run of the season and the game-winning RBI.

Tanner Bibee pitched a scoreless 10th inning to earn the win for the Guardians. Lopez took the loss for the Twins.

Player of the Game

Manzardo was named the player of the game for his game-winning home run. He finished the night 1-for-4 with two RBIs.

Up Next

The Guardians will continue their road trip with a four-game series against the Chicago White Sox beginning on Thursday night. The Twins will host the Kansas City Royals for a three-game series beginning on Friday night.
